What this covers

Network of Directors is a free room for founders that meets once a month in Austin, Texas. This policy covers this website, networkofdirectors.com, and the events we run. When we say "we," we mean the people who run Network of Directors. When we say "you," we mean anyone who visits the site or comes to the room.

What you give us

The contact form asks for your first name, last name and email, plus your phone number and company if you choose to add them, the topic you pick, and your message. That note is sent by email to the people who run the room through Postmark, an email delivery service, and to nowhere else. We keep it as long as we need it to answer you and follow up, then we delete it.

Seats are reserved on Partiful. What you enter there is collected by Partiful under its own privacy policy. We see the guest list for each event so we know who to expect.

Like every website, our host records the basics of each request: your IP address, your browser, the page you asked for and the time. Those logs are kept for a short period for security and are not used to identify you.

Analytics, heatmaps and session recordings

We use PostHog to understand how this site is used. PostHog records the pages you view, what you click or tap, how far you scroll, where your mouse moves, how you move between pages, how long you stay, your browser and device type, your screen size, and an approximate location worked out from your IP address. From that it builds heatmaps of where people click and scroll, and it records sessions as replays that show how a visitor moved through a page.

Anything you type into a form field is masked in those recordings. Your name, email, phone number and message are never captured by a replay.

PostHog uses cookies and local storage in your browser to tell one visit from the next. Their names begin with ph_ and they stay for up to a year unless you clear them. We may also use PostHog to show two versions of a page to different visitors and see which one works better, to show a short survey, or to switch a feature on for some visitors before everyone.

PostHog, Inc. stores this data on our behalf. We use it to make the site better and to learn which pages, talks and events people care about. We keep it for no longer than a year. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to advertise to you on other sites. If we add another analytics or advertising tool later, we will name it here and update the date at the top.

Cookies

This site has no login and no shopping cart, so the cookies it sets are the PostHog identifiers described above and nothing else. Two things we embed set their own cookies under their own policies: YouTube, when you press play on a talk, and Partiful, when you reserve a seat.

You can block or clear cookies in your browser at any time. The site works without them. Heatmaps and replays will simply not know that a returning visitor is the same person.

Photos and video at the room

We photograph and film the events. The talks are recorded and published on YouTube and on this site, and photographs of the room appear here and on our social accounts. By coming to an event you agree that you may appear in those photographs and recordings.

If you appear in one and want it taken down, reach us through the contact page and tell us which one. We will remove it wherever we can.

Who else sees your information

Only the services that make the site and the events work: Postmark, which delivers the contact form; Partiful, which handles seats; PostHog, which handles analytics; YouTube, which hosts the talks; and the company that hosts these pages. Each of them handles data under its own policy. We would also share information if the law required it.

We do not sell your information, and we do not hand your contact details to sponsors.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to us through the contact page and we will answer. If you live somewhere that gives you more rights over your data, such as the European Union, the United Kingdom or California, you have those rights here too.

To stop PostHog tracking, block cookies and local storage for networkofdirectors.com in your browser, or use a content blocker. Everything on the site keeps working.

Children

The room and this site are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under eighteen. If you think we have, tell us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable care with what you send us. The site is served over an encrypted connection, the contact form goes straight to email, and the services we use are ones with their own security programs. No system is perfect, and if something goes wrong with your data we will tell you.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If the change matters, we will say so on the site.
